Backyard Love

We receive many emails from frosted brides-to-be asking for advice and today we're going to tackle one of your biggest questions: how to pull off an elegant backyard wedding?  To that we say, "no problem"! There's only one thing you need to remember... it's all in the details!  You're saving a ton of money by skipping out on pricey venues and transportation, so invest in the little things that will make your day in the garden shine.

No grandios ballrooms.  No cliffside vow exchanges.  Just loving touches that reflect your personality.

So, put on your kicks because we're about to break it down!

The Ring
Many backyard-bound couples we've heard from are concerned that their wedding photos won't be as spectacular as those who marry in a banquet hall.  FALSE!  Have your photographer focus on what's important...the details!  Your rings, being one of the most important details of the day.

The Invite
Make sure your invitation reflects the feel of the day you're planning.  If your garden wedding is going to be simple and sweet, then so should your invites!  Photo tip: make sure to have extra copies of the invitations at your wedding so your photographer can get some stylized shots of it!

The Guest Tables
One thing we often hear is, "we're having a backyard wedding because we can't afford wedding flowers".  No worries!  The great advantage of a garden wedding is... you're in a garden!  Let the natural surroundings serve as your wedding decor.  As for your guest tables, a few springs of dried lavender on each plate with a hand-written name tag attached do triple the work - they serve as your favors, escort cards, & your floral arrangements!

Further, add to your table decor with little touches that last longer than a bouquet of flowers.  How about these unique book table numbers to spice up your garden theme?

The Dessert
Can't afford a 5-tiered wedding cake?  Let them eat PIE!  Homemade pies are a lovely touch to any backyard wedding.  Try adding these cute chalkboard signs for a little extra cuteness...

The Accessories
Your backyard wedding is all about celebrating family and home, so adorn yourself with the meaningful details - your grandmother's brooch, grandpa's handkerchief, or your sister's favorite earrings.  And make sure your photographer catches it all on film!

And you're in the garden, so you might as well style yourself accordingly!

The Decor
Want to make your backyard setting seem more eventful?  Then unify it with decorative details scattered throughout the garden.  An easy way to do this is to bring accent furniture outside...

The Wedding Party
Nothing says an outdoor party like light linens and bright colors, so dress your wedding party accordingly...

And last, but certainly not least your wedding day should be just that... YOURS!  So make sure the two lovebirds are dressed in their favorite things - colors, shoes, socks, all the little details should reflect your personalities!

And with all the little details, your backyard wedding will be what every couple dreams of... perfection!

Please post your sugary-sweet comments here. As Mama Petticoat taught us, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"... so all negative, mean, or irrelevant remarks will be deleted. Merci, beaucoup!
