Trend Alert: New American

There are no rules to styling a wedding.  They can be eclectic, traditional, or modern.  The palette can be matchy-matchy, mismatched, or have no color at all.  Truly all bets are off when it comes to wedding style.  However, some of the more design-oriented nuptials are the ones that seem to emulate a trend in the fashion world.

So, how exactly do you translate fashion into a wedding theme?  Our inbox has been filled lately with emails from the Petticoat Nation asking that exact question!  There's no right or wrong answer.  But think of it this way:  to emulate a clothing trend, you would dress yourself in the corresponding patterns, colors, and cuts of the style, right?  Well, it's the same with your wedding!  Dress up your invites, centerpieces, cake, etc. the way you'd dress yourself - mimicking the lines and palettes of the popular fashion style.  So, to make it a bit easier here's what we'll do... whenever the blog receives a submission that has even the slightest hint of a fashion trend creeping through the design, I'll point it out.  That way, you can see how others were able to utilize a particular style.  Sound like a deal?

Today's real wedding screams of the latest in fashion & food trends ... New American!  Now, if you live in New York City like I do, you know that this is all the rage in fine dining right now.  The style hints of the French countryside combined with clean, modern lines and relatively neutral colors.  Although each detail has a somewhat contemporary look to it, as a whole the design comes across as warm & rustic.  So, how did cuties Caroline & Colin pull this style off in their wedding decor?  They combined a rustic estate with simple neutrals.  From the understated candle decor to the placid flower arrangements, theirs is a prime example of modernly-rustic New American nuptials...

  1. Don't know if I'd want something so simple for my own wedding, but I do like this trend. Very popular on the East coast!

Please post your sugary-sweet comments here. As Mama Petticoat taught us, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"... so all negative, mean, or irrelevant remarks will be deleted. Merci, beaucoup!
