David Bowie, Wedding Crasher

March 24, 2015

When you’re obsessed with David Bowie, you know you need to find a partner who is, at minimum, understanding.  For Carwyn and Heather, luck was in the cards… they both were obsessed with the British rocker!  Naturally there was only one solution:  A David Bowie themed wedding, of course!  Bride Heather gives us insight into their love story and the musical inspiration behind their big day:

Carwyn and I met at the BBC when I worked for Comic Relief. I think he probably first fell in love with me when I was dressed up as a giant red nose for Red Nose Day…

He proposed during a trip to Berlin last year, we are both Bowie fans and we walked to the Hansa Studios, where Bowie recorded Heroes and Low. We were outside when Carwyn got down on one knee. He proposed using a specially made comedy ring, which meant we could then select our dream ring together (thank goodness because I am a fussy bugger!).

As film fans we wanted our ceremony to reflect this, so when we found the Little Theatre! We were able to make it a real cinematic event with a short film from Disney (Paperman) and a reading called Love Monkey by Edward Monkton.

The ceremony was perfect and afterwards we filled up on popcorn and pink bubbles.  A vintage coach took all the guests to the Assembly Rooms where we had spectacular food and drink, and everyone set eyes on our incredible cinema seat cake.

A David Bowie tribute band, The Bowie Xperience, provided the music for the evening and even sang The Labyrinth song “As the World Falls Down” for our first dance. From start to finish the whole day was incredible; fun, personal and intimate.
