Welcome to the third part of our Summertime Rosé series, where I have challenged myself to find the best of the best summer rosés of 2017. The purpose of this series is to show you how you do not need to be a wine expert or shred your bank account to enjoy a good glass of wine. In all honesty, I love me some quality sipping but know very little about the genre. I am not going to focus too much on palate and maturation… let’s leave that for the connoisseurs with years of experience under their belt. I am going to just stick with the overall experience and general background of the bottle. This series is more about dipping your toes into the world of quality wines. Sound manageable? Great! Today we’ll be visiting Côtes de Provence to sample a delightful glass of Mimi en Provence Grande Reserve Rosé 2016.

On the drier, lighter side the Mimi en Provence Rosé 2016 is a great introduction into the wine category. It is a relatively simple rosé, with flavorful hints of raspberry and peach. In particular, this makes my list of best summer wines because it pairs so nicely with fish. And we all know a proper summertime menu has a lot of fish on it. The wine consistently rates solidly in the 90 point range in Wine Spectator annually, is found in most markets, and comes in on an average of $14/bottle. High quality, easy-to-find, and inexpensive. So now you have three stellar picks for your next sipping excursion: Mathilde Chapoutier, Sofia, and Mimi. What do you say, the next post we go all out and play big spender?! Stay tuned!
