Blackberry & Orange Blossom Cheese Danish

Spring is a time for fresh flowers, blue skies, and fruity cheese Danishes. Well, at least in my world Spring and Danish are synonymous. And yes, I do pair foods with the seasons. Think about it. You’re finally emerging from your wintery cave, breathing in the crisp fresh air, and taking a scrumptious bite of a cheesy pastry. I truly can’t think of a better way to welcome Mother Nature’s bounty. So as we start to get wisps of Spring on the breeze, consider putting your baking skills to use and commemorating the event with today’s recipe. Blackberry & Orange Blossom Cheese Danish. And with the help of Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry, it’ll be way easier than you expect.

Blackberry & Orange Blossom Cheese Danish

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 sheets of Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry
  • ½ cup of creamed Swiss cheese
  • ¼ cup of orange marmalade
  • ¼ cup of blackberries
  • ½ teaspoon of orange blossom water
  • 1 egg yolk

DIRECTIONS:

  1.  Defrost the Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Sheets at room temperature for approximately 40 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cheese and marmalade until creamy.
  4. In a food processor, mince together the blackberries and orange blossom water. Drain the excess liquid.
  5. Lay out one of the Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry sheets on the parchment lined baking sheet. Fold in ½ inch of the dough all along the edge and twist the ends out.
  6. Spread the cheese filling evenly inside the Puff Pastry base. Then lightly spread the minced orange blossom blackberries on top of the cheese filling.
  7. On a separate surface, lay out the second Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry sheet on parchment paper. Use a pie or cookie cutter to cut out a decorative shape. Place it in the center of the pastry. Brush exposed pastry puff with egg yolk.
  8. Bake the Danish in the oven for approximately 15 minutes. Remove and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

So once you’ve picked up some boxes, you’ll be ready to get started on the recipe. Take them home and defrost two sheets of the Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry at room temperature for approximately 40 minutes.
