Fashionable Food: Watermelon Swiss Cheese Dip

April 11, 2018
Tibi Fall Collection, Tibi 2018, Tibi

Are you ready for another round of Fashionable Food? For those of you who are just joining us, this is where I pair recipes with designer runway looks. Why in the world would you do this, you ask? Because I see food everywhere and I’m weird, alright?! In the past we’ve seen Oscar de la Renta square off with an Oat Smoothie and Milly taking on a rustic pizza. Today we will witness a battle of wits, I mean dairy, with a Tibi 2018 Fall look versus my Watermelon Swiss Cheese Dip recipe. This is Fashionable Food battle, expert level “Cheese”!

The moment I laid eyes on this outfit, my mind (and stomach) screamed “WATERMELON!!!!” Now that I’ve said it, you can’t see anything else right? Clearly the designer had melons on the brain when putting together this look. There’s no other logical explanation. So, the only natural thing to do was pair this design with my Watermelon Swiss Cheese Dip from a few years back. But why the cheese, you ask? Here’s a little background… I used to cover fashion shows when I was working as a writer in NYC. And if there was anything that was glaring wrong about the fashion scene, it was that the industry takes themselves way too seriously. So seriously, in fact, it’s rather humorous. It’s just clothes people! You haven’t discovered the cure for cancer, you only added fringe to an asymmetrical seam. Obviously, I didn’t last long in the industry. It probably didn’t help that I was constantly trying to sneak the complimentary pastries to the models, either. So I personally think designers need to step back from themselves and add a bit of cheese in their lives….

Watermelon Swiss Cheese Dip

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 mini watermelon
  • 1 cup of creamed Swiss cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon of rose water

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Scoop out 1/2 a mini watermelon.
  2. Shred the fruit and remove the excess seeds. Drain any excess liquid.
  3. Mix 1 cup of creamed Swiss cheese, 1/4 teaspoon of rose water, and 1 tablespoon of honey together.
  4. Mix in the shredded watermelon and serve in the hollowed watermelon. Enjoy!

It’s ridiculously easy, but just in case here’s a video tutorial I put together…
